Biography
Prof. Rosenberg Efim Naumovich was born on March 31, 1952, in Moscow. In 1974, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (MIIT) with a degree in "Automation, Telemechanics and Communications." Since 1974, he has been working at JSC "NIIAS," rising from an engineer in the design bureau of the Main Directorate of Signaling and Communications of the Ministry of Railways to First Deputy General Director. In 1983, he received the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences, defending a dissertation on the topic "Methods for Constructing Railway Automation and Telemechanics Systems with Equipment Performance Monitoring." In 2005, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Multilevel Train Traffic Control and Safety Assurance System." Since 1999, he has been First Deputy General Director of JSC "NIIAS" and Chief Designer for Traffic Safety Assurance on Russian Railways. In 2012, he was awarded the academic title of Professor. In 2015, he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Designer of the Russian Federation." In 2025, he became a laureate of the Government of the Russian Federation Prize in the field of science and technology. Prof. Rosenberg is one of the leading Russian scientists in the field of railway automation and informatization. He has been publishing since 1976 and maintains high scientific activity (more than 30 articles per year); his citation count is growing (with a peak over the last 5 years). His high Hirsch index (21) and broad recognition in the professional community are confirmed by membership on the editorial boards of all leading industry journals and a significant number of co-authors (more than 880). He is a member of the editorial boards of leading industry journals: "Intellectual Transport" (Deputy Editor-in-Chief since 2025), "Science and Technology of Railways" (member of the editorial board since 2017), "Vestnik VNIIZhT" (Scientific Editor, member of the editorial council since 2009), "Automation, Communications, Informatics" (member of the editorial board). Member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences (since 2005).
